The colors are minimalist and the icons are easy to understand.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, if you\u2019re building an app for the younger and more tech-savvy Gen Z or Millennial crowd, there\u2019s more leeway to get creative with your designs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>User experience and user interface are crucial to the success of an app. Even incorporating a \u201csimple\u201d design takes a lot of time and energy to think through, so don\u2019t underestimate the costs.<\/p>\n<h3>#5 Integration Points<\/h3>\n<p>Adding integration points and APIs are going to add more hours to your project. <\/p>\n<p>When trying to think about costs relating to integration points, ask yourself the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Will your app be integrating with 3rd party systems or other complex backend systems?<\/li>\n<li>Does the content for your app already exist in other data structures, like APIs, or will new content need to be developed?<\/li>\n<li>Who will be controlling the content?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For our ride sharing app example, it would need to incorporate third-party integrations like GPS and eCommerce.<\/p>\n<h2>How You Can Cut Down on Development Costs<\/h2>\n<p>Now that you have a better understanding of the costs that go into development, here are some tips on how you can save money without compromising the quality of your app.<\/p>\n<h3>Keep your app lean<\/h3>\n<p>Any mobile app without interesting features or functionality won\u2019t sustain long in the mobile app market, but with that said, sometimes less is more.<\/p>\n<p>What do I mean by this?&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One of the biggest mistakes developers and entrepreneurs can make is bloating their app with too many features with the common mindset of \u201cThe more, the merrier!\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>While it can be tempting to add lots of attractive features to your app to suit every user\u2019s needs, don\u2019t. <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s in our human nature to feel overwhelmed when faced with too many choices, so keep your app lean and stick to features that are most important for your target audience.<\/p>\n<p>It will bring more value to your app and save you money.<\/p>\n<h3>Knowing when to hire a freelancer\/offshore<\/h3>\n<p>So I\u2019ve already touched on the pros and cons of hiring a freelancer\/offshore vs hiring an agency to build a mobile app.<\/p>\n<p>While it seems like an agency is always the way to go, it\u2019s actually not always necessary. <\/p>\n<p>If you have a mobile app that\u2019s relatively small in size and scope, like our beauty salon example, you could probably get away with hiring a freelancer or offshore developer to save money.<\/p>\n<p>Just keep in mind the risks involved and ask yourself the following questions:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWill my project be OK if the freelancer&#8230;\u201d:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>decides to bail mid-project?<\/li>\n<li>needs a deadline extension?<\/li>\n<li>has a limited specialization?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Go with a smaller agency<\/h3>\n<p>If you don\u2019t feel too confident in hiring a freelancer, you can also save money on your app project by opting for a small local agency.<\/p>\n<p>Bigger agencies have larger staff and much more overhead, so their prices are going to be higher.<\/p>\n<p>If your project isn\u2019t too big, a small agency is a great way to cut costs on your mobile app project while also avoiding the pitfalls of hiring a freelancer.<\/p>\n<h3>Pick a platform<\/h3>\n<p>There are tons of successful mobile apps that are available on either iOS or Android, and not both, so don\u2019t convince yourself that your app has to be universal if you\u2019re working on a tight budget.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Choosing one platform to develop your app for (after conducting some thorough market research) can cut down costs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When doing your research on your target audience, you\u2019ll want to consider their age, gender, income level, location, and lifestyle.
